Natives face limit to healthcare...

The native American community statistically suffers more medical problems that the rest of the US. Their infant mortality rate is 40 per cent higher, and they're twice as likely to die from diabetes.


Tom Ackerman travelled to one town in the state of South Dakota to see just how acute the problem is.

Unfortunately we are subjected GOVERNMENT run health care that at a certain point runs out of money. So if you want expert information about health care, ask the rez indians why we lose so many of our people to GOVERNMENT run health care.

In the treaty My Great Grandfather negotiated in the late 1800's was trading for all the other lands they would recieve the reservations and these 5 things, Schooling, housing, food, clothing, medical forever. This is still a legal binding contract.

What we really need is for the govenment to put money into research to cure diabetes. AIDS is no longer a death sentence because a very vocal minority demanded the govt do something about it. Diabetes research lags behind.
