In this film interview, Interfaith Minister Janet Weber, who serves as Assistant to the International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers and has been a longtime supporter of the Lakota way of life, interviews Oglala Lakota Medicine Man Chief American Horse. Chief American Horse, or Uncle Vern, was struck by lightning at the age of eight and survived. Spirits began to visit him, and helped to heal his injuries including burns. He then learned he had the gift of healing, or medicine, and began to receive information from the spirit world via dreams and visions. Listen to Chief American Horse tell about a way of life that is on the verge of extinction, and a connection to the Divine so strong it has the power to heal the people.

Chief American Horse is a true medicine man. He listens to the spirits, not to his fellow man. The coyote on the hill warns of danger. Listen to the animals. He will die when the spirits tell him he is ready. We are honored to know of this great man.

I would be honored to be able to watch and listen to Grandfather's words. Do I have to have an invitation to be able to see it? Please respond and let me know if its possible. My heart is with the Elders. laresaturnbow@yahoo.com

why is it that the young ridicule the wisdom of the elderly while they could learn "by osmosis" and spare themselves the pain? I am proud to learn from the elders - spiritually, financially, family and use what works best for me i
