The Washington State History Museum and the Longhouse Education and Cultural Center at The Evergreen State College are proud to present the fourth annual In the Spirit: Northwest Native Arts Market and Festival, happening in downtown Tacoma at the History Museum on August 8 and 9, 2009. The museum is located at 1911 Pacific Ave. Tacoma Washington.

The Native Arts Market & Festival features some of the best Native artists in the region selling exquisite artworks. Guests can catch performances of Native singers, musicians, and dance groups throughout the weekend.

Grandview Elementary children, Indigie Femme, Sngagim Axasniikangin (Aleut for Dream Dancers), Rona Yellow Robe Walsh, Chenoa Egawa and Alex Turtle as well as Alaska Kuteeyaa Dancers and Northern Start Dancers will perform

Salmon dinners and Indian tacos will be for sale.

All outdoors festival activities are FREE and open to the public.

Festival Hours: August 8, 2009 10 AM -5 PM
August 9, 2009 Noon-5 PM

The festival features an art show that includes customary and contemporary pieces by Indigenous artists throughout the country. The show is open July 9- August 30 with a public reception on July 16 at 5:00 PM

This is a great show. The entertainment is excellent. The venue is inviting and the artists fantastic.
