Award-winning Rock-Soul-Blues Artist the “Devil’s Son” Skylar Wolf brings a free benefit concert to Oakland California. This fund-raising event will support Native American women and children in defending against domestic violence.
Like very few blues men the “Devil’s Son” gets his name from the streets of hard-living, pain and skid-row. Skylar Wolf continues to deliver his music across the U.S. helping non-profit organizations targeting women and children. Skylar Wolf believes it is an important connection for our future native families if our tradition and culture is to survive.
Skylar Wolf says, “Domestic violence has many faces, they watch us through our children, our young women and mothers”. Wolf also says, “We need to learn how to become better fathers, better mothers and better teachers. So, we may protect each other for our children.”
This domestic violence benefit has already reached many resources outside the city limits of Oakland, California. We can only hope this kind of help will reach many victims who are afraid to seek help or shelter from this abuse. Or, our native community will have the knowledge to reach out to family and friends that fall victim to this crisis.
On August 15, 2009 the Inter-Tribal Friendship House in Oakland, California will strengthen our women, children, friends and families to defend against domestic violence. We hope you can join this fight in your hearts and with your prayers.
