Miwoks call Yosemite Indians “Them”

Sylvia Broadbent interveiwing Castro Johnson and other Mariposa Indians who reportedly lived west of the Yosemite Indians. Today all of the descendents of the informants claim to be Yosemite Indians. The informants were Southern Sierra Miwoks who referred to the Yosemite Indians as "the Killers" and never "some of them are Killers (the Paiutes)". The photo was taken in the 1950s when Broadbent was interviewing those claiming to be Miwoks, but many were in fact Casson Yokuts.
