Tex Hall has packed many things on his resume over the years; the most recent addition is his job leading Red Arrow Homes & Development based in Queen Creek, Arizona. Hall’s vision for American Indian communities to have quality homes to live in began to take shape many years ago when he served as President of the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) and Tribal Chairman of the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation of North Dakota.

“The road to becoming a small business owner has not been easy,” stated Tex Hall, Chairman/CEO of Red Arrow Homes & Development. “Entrepreneurship is difficult, but it allows American Indian people to better determine their futures and improve the quality of life for one another through home ownership, jobs creation, and community improvement.”

Red Arrow Homes & Development is headquartered in Arizona which is home to 21 tribal nations. An American Indian owned and operated company, the Red Arrow team is comprised of several members that have successful backgrounds in production home building, custom homebuilding, and real estate development with a combined 25 years of industry experience.

The team started to take form in 2005 when Hall met Jaafe Kellis and Colby Shepherd while they participated in the ABC Extreme Makeover Home Edition dedicated to building a new home for the Lori Piestewa family. Kellis, Shepherd, and Hall continued to correspond after their participation in the ABC Extreme Makeover Home Edition event. Through their friendship, common interest in cattle ranching, and their passion for quality homes for American Indian communities, the partnership was formed and Red Arrow Homes & Development was created in 2008.

“We have just received bid awards from the Gila River Indian Community in Arizona for a total of 100 homes,” said Colby Shepherd, VP of Operations for Red Arrow Homes & Development.
“As partners we are very excited to have this first big opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to building quality, affordable homes within American Indian communities.”

Moving forward with great momentum, Red Arrow has another project underway which is located in the White Mountain area of McNary, Arizona. Red Arrow is building a Tribal Community Center for the White Mountain Apache Tribe.

An important part of Red Arrow’s mission/value statement is to give back to American Indian communities and organizations and to support American Indian youth. Holding true to their mission, Red Arrow sponsored an event at the Early Education Child Care Center at the Gila River Indian Community this past winter. During a special Christmas event, Red Arrow purchased over 100 gifts as well as sponsored the Christmas meal for the families at the Center on December 18, 2008.

“We are very thankful for the opportunity to work with tribes in such a meaningful way as home ownership,” said Hall. “We are proud to be of service and committed to providing affordable homes on reservations.”
