Yosemite Half Dome Indian legend
Leanna Tom, daugther of Mono Paiute leader Captain Sam, wife of Mono Paiute Bridgeport Tom. Photo was taken at Mono Lake by famous photographer Edward Curtis in 1924. She was a famous Yosemite - Mono Lake area basket maker. She lived in Yosemite and on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada which was Paiute territory. Her Great-Grandson, Gene Watts, gave testimony about Half Dome's name.
