SHINGLE SPRINGS, Calif. – The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians recently made a payment of $125,000 to the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors for law enforcement services. The tribe’s assistance will strengthen the administration of public safety programs and services throughout the region.

As part of the county Memorandum of Understanding, the tribe made a commitment to contribute financial resources toward the support of El Dorado County public safety and law enforcement. Per the MOU, the first $500,000 will be devoted to the purchase of police vehicles, hiring of additional law enforcement officers and other tangibles the county’s board concludes are needed to protect the safety of residents. Additionally, the tribe in its agreement advanced the county $250,000 before the Red Hawk Casino opened. Since 2008, the Shingle Springs Band has supported several county projects across the region with more than $15 million in funding.

“We are happy to support the county in any effort that affects the safety and well-being of our community, including our neighbors,” said Shingle Springs Chairman Nick Fonseca.
