NMAI to host Indian law meeting

The National Museum of the American Indian will host an Indian law conference Friday, Nov. 13.

The conference is being organized by the Federal Bar Association, the National Native American Bar Association and the Native American Bar Association of Washington, D.C.

The agenda includes sessions on federal cases, land into trust issues, criminal and civil jurisdiction and bankruptcy.

Hilary Tompkins, a member of the Navajo Nation and first Indian woman to serve as solicitor of the Department of Interior, is scheduled to speak, as are several Indian legal and policy experts from across the nation.
