PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – Rated consistently by Golf Digest as one of the best places to play, Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort offers two 18-hole courses with spectacular views of Palm Springs. The Legend Course is par-72 with a traditional layout boasting 6,600 yards of tree lined fairways. The Resort Course is newer; it debuted in 1995. Also a par-72, the 6,705-yard course with four sets of tees features a desert link-style layout.

Both offer views of the San Jacinto Mountains, rolling terrain, waterscapes and well-placed bunkers.

“Tahquitz Creek is the pride and joy of Palm Springs. The course is owned by the city and over the next few years will undergo some great renovations,” said Josh Smith, general manager at Tahquitz Creek and the Golf Club at Terra Lago. “We are really excited about our partnership and the programs and new projects the city is planning for the course.”

Tahquitz Creek also offers a Player’s Club allowing golfers to learn, practice and improve skills. Those who join receive unlimited range practice at specified times, instruction during clinic times, $5 cart fees and up to three-day advance reservations. A monthly individual membership is $29.

A 30-minute drive from Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort is the Golf Club at Terra Lago which played host to the 1999 – 2002 PGA Tour Skins game. The 36-hole course, located in Indio, is surrounded by the Indio and Chocolate Mountain foothills with challenging holes that twist and turn with the landscape. All four nines zigzag across the banks of the All-American Canal for over a mile before climbing an earthen berm at the northern boundary. The breathtaking panoramic views are accentuated by topography changes, elevated trees and undulating emerald green fairways. The course also offers bridges crafted from vintage railroad cars and spectacular sunrises and sunsets.

Terra Lago, a 36-hole course is surrounded by the Indio and Chocolate Mountains.

Terra Lago is currently owned by a subsidiary of Lehman Brothers. “It was a great honor for the course to host the PGA Tour Skins game. Those years were kind of the hay day for the Skins games with players like Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia and J.J. Henry. Some of the top players on tour played during those years,” Smith said.

This season the North Course at Terra Lago has all new bunkers, while both North and South courses have a new fleet of golf carts and a new coat of paint in the clubhouse.

Both are open to the public year-round. In addition to hosting golf tournaments, the clubhouses can host private events of up to 300 people.

Terra Lago is located close to the Fantasy Springs Resort Hotel & Casino which is owned and operated by the Cabazon Band of Mission Indians.

“We host a number of big tournaments for some of the American Indian groups every year. Last year we hosted a large event for the San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino, owned by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, and also for the Native American Land Conservancy. We also work closely with the Fantasy Springs Casino who recently built their own golf course,” Smith said.

Amenities at both courses include a driving range, putting area, short game area, golf lessons, a golf shop and restaurants.
