Resort-casino task force forming in E. Oregon

By The Associated Press

VALE, Ore. (AP) – Malheur County is forming a task force on a potential destination resort and casino following a presentation by the Burns Paiute Ontario Development Project Corp.

Nyssa City Manager Roberta Donovan also sent a letter to the county expressing “enthusiastic support” for the Burns Paiute tribe’s proposed resort.

Donovan said the project could bring up to 1,400 jobs with benefits to the remote area, along with a boost to the economy from construction.

The task force plans to meet monthly at the county Economic Development Office.
