Dorothy’s ruby red slippers – direct from Oz to Fantasy Springs slots

By Staff reports

INDIO, Calif. – If guests click their heels three times and find themselves at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, they might just end up somewhere over the rainbow. Fantasy Springs is the first casino in Riverside and San Bernardino counties to install the brand new “Ruby Slippers” slot machine. The penny game is a wide area progressive and is a sequel to the popular WMS Gaming “Wizard of Oz” slot machine, on which a northern California woman won $1.2 million at Fantasy Springs in November 2009.

Resort guests can now play any of four “Ruby Slippers” slot machines, located near the escalator on the main casino floor. The game features 45 different ways to trigger any of six bonus rounds. Fans of “The Wizard of Oz” may also feel transported back to the way they felt watching the original motion picture as many of the sights and sounds from the movie are included in the “Ruby Slippers” game. WMS Gaming found very positive comments on the initial release of the game.

“These are some of the largest and brightest symbols I have seen. … when I walked in I thought, ‘Ooh, I wanna play that!’ It just draws you to it, like it’d be exciting to win on it,” said one market research participant. Fantasy Springs offers three of the original “Wizard of Oz” wide area progressive penny slot machines.

According to the resort’s Vice President of Casino Operations Lou Crescenzo, games such as the new “Ruby Slippers” are vital to the makeup of a casino floor. “These kinds of games are extremely entertaining and guests identify with recognizable characters they know from movies and television. The technology of a slot machine also has to be accessible to all players.” He says the casino will also be installing 24 brand new multi-game video poker machines in a new venue in August 2010.

Fantasy Springs is a privately operated business of the Cabazon Band of Mission Indians. For more information, call toll free (800) 827-2946.
