The Michigan Chapter of Associated General Contractors has honored Clark Construction as a winner of the 2009 Build Michigan Award for construction of FireKeepers Casino in Battle Creek. The award was presented in ceremonies during the AGC’s Annual Meeting Jan. 29 at the Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit.
“The AGC Build Michigan Award is one of the most prestigious awards in our industry and it is a great honor to receive it,” said Clark Construction CEO Charles Clark. “I am proud of our entire team that worked tirelessly to make FireKeepers the award winning project that it has become.”
“The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi congratulate Clark Construction Company for winning recognition for its role as the construction manager of our beautiful and state-of-the-art FireKeepers Casino in Battle Creek,” said Tribal Chair Laura W. Spurr, of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potwatomi. “Clark Construction performed an outstanding job by overseeing the construction team made up of local Southwest Michigan subcontractors to build a casino with such exceptional quality and innovation, ahead of schedule, under budget, and without any worker injuries.”
The $300 million Las Vegas style FireKeepers Casino opened Aug. 5, 2009 and is located east of Battle Creek off I-94. The 236,000-square-foot property – featuring a 107,000-square-foot gaming floor – includes 2,682 slots, 78 table games and 120 seats for poker, as well as eight restaurants and lounges. The FireKeepers Casino has created more than 1,500 full and part-time jobs for tribal members and the community.
