Sen. Byron Dorgan, chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, has sent a letter to tribal leaders, asking for their opinions on the operations of the Indian Health Service and Bureau of Indian Affairs.
“As a part of our oversight responsibilities we hope you will provide details about programs and services that are working well, those that need improvement, and if you believe improvements are needed, your ideas on how to reform the services provided or programs delivered by the BIA and IHS,” he wrote.
He added that any information submitted will only be used to assist the committee in conducting its oversight functions.
