Ready for recognition

I wanted to thank the House of Representatives in Washington D.C., for approving federal recognition of the Lumbee Indians of North Carolina known as H.R. 31.

This bill would qualify them for medical care, child welfare, community development, and other programs that other American Indians already have. It is poetic justice for the Lumbee people who were terminated as being federally recognized in 1956.

Also, the House of Representatives, on that same day, approved federal recognition for American Indians in Virginia. Let’s hope that the U.S. Senate will do the same.

May honor be given to The House of Representatives. May the Senate not shame the United States, for past sins. May the Senate pass a just act. The actual doing of just deeds! The world is watching? A deal is a deal!
