Sickey re-elected as Coushatta tribal chairman

ELTON, La. (AP) – Kevin Sickey has been re-elected to a second four-year term as tribal chairman of the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana in a runoff.

Sickey, who received 202 votes June 7, defeated former tribal chairman Lovelin Poncho, who received 174 votes.

Sickey was inaugurated June 10 in the Coushatta Multipurpose Complex. The oath was administered by Chief Tribal Judge F.A. Little Jr.

Kenneth Wayne Wilson II and Jerold Poncho were elected last month to four-year terms on the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana Council.
