Nanticoke Indian Museum receives gift

Attorney donates American Indian book collection

WASHINGTON - In honor of his parents, Antonio ;'Tony'' Arocho, a resident of Maryland and the principal attorney at Arocho Law Office in Washington, D.C., has donated his American Indian book collection to the Nanticoke Indian Museum & Library of the Nanticoke Indian Tribe in Delaware.

''I am very proud to have my book collection included in the Nanticoke Indian Museum & Library because the museum plays a very special role in preserving and promoting Native American culture and history,'' Arocho said. ''The donated collection includes materials on the Arawak, Aztec, Carib [Kalinago], Creeks, Garifuna, Inca, Pequot, Powhatan Renape, Seminole, Seneca, Taino, Yaqui, and many other tribal people.''

The Nanticoke Indian Tribe is a state-recognized tribe in Delaware. The Nanticoke Indian Museum & Library is located on the corners of Route 24 (John J. Williams Highway) and Route 5 (Oak Orchard Road) in Millsboro. The museum is open Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., during the month of April, and Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May through October.
